Barrow-wight KIDNAPS them. Bombadil RESCUES
them.)
Merry: "What happened to my
clothes?"
Tom Bombadil: "They're gone.
Have these instead, then head out to Bree."
(He also gives them PONIES and KNIVES. They
leave.)
